~Friday, December 17th is a 1/2 day for elementary students. We will dismiss at 11:5o am.

~Friday, December 17th is a 5th grade "pajama party." Please let your children wear appropriate pajamas, slippers, etc. Please do not send pillows/blankets/stuffed animals.

Movie Reminder

Please remember the 5th grade movie field trip this Friday, December 10th. Please turn in field trip money ($9.50) no later than Wednesday, December 8th. Also remember to pick students up at the movie theatre at 3:15 pm on Friday.

DHR Christmas Angel

5th Grade is raising money to donate to DHR for their annual Christmas Angel gifts. Please send $5 by Wednesday, December 8th.

ALSO....Don't forget about the Patriot Marketplace this Friday!!! Please send in your candle/fragrant item by Wednesday (December 1st)!!!

**Pictures of the basket auction at the Patriot Marketplace will be under the announcements section on the school's website www.pikelib.com. This is so anyone can make bids on the baskets, even if they are unable to make it to the marketplace. The bids will be updated each hour. You can still bid in person at the marketplace.

Patriot Marketplace

This year's Patriot Marketplace will be December 3rd from 11 am to 5 pm.

This year, PTO is sponsoring themed gift baskets to be a part of the Patriot Marketplace. 5th grades' basket theme is "Candles/Frangrances." We are asking each student to bring an item (no matter how small or large) to add to the basket by December 1st. These items may be arranged into several baskets that will be at the Patriot Marketplace in the silent auction. Thank you in advance for your support to this new fund raiser!!!

Veteran's Day

Halloween Party

We are going to have a Halloween Dessert Party on Friday, October 29th. We need volunteers to bring the following items:

We will have the party at 1:45 (after lunch) and will watch a short movie. Please send goodies that morning with the student.

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week in conjunction with City of Troy. Here are what the students need to wear:
Monday - Red Ribbon Day - Wear red!
Tuesday - Hats off to good choices - Wear a hat
Wednesday - Sock it to drugs! - Wear crazy socks
Thursday - Join the Fight Against Drugs - Wear Camo
Friday - Don't be scared to say no! - Wear your halloween costume

Fall Festival Update

Our fall festival is coming up next Thursday, October 28th. I need 4 parents to volunteer to work the Country Store (30 minute shifts). We also need baked goods, canned preserves, candies, and crafts donated that can be sold during at the country store. You may send baked goods and candies on Thursday, October 28th. Any other items may be sent anytime.
Please be sure to price your items before sending them to school.

Fall Festival

The Fall Festival will be Thursday, October 28, from 6 to 8pm. We will need donations of small prizes for the game booths, two-liter cokes for the ring toss, cakes for the cake walk, stuffed animals for the teddy bear walk, and baked goods for the country store.

If you would like to help, please send all prizes and cokes by Tuesday, October 19th. Cakes and other baked goods should be delivered on Thursday, October 28th. If you are able to volunteer, please send me an email.

Grandparent's Day

Grandparent's Day is Friday, September 24th. The 5th and 6th grade program will begin at 10:30 a.m.. If your child is checking out on Friday, please be sure they sign out with the teacher before leaving.

Students should wear either a white or red shirt and blue jeans (can be shorts, skirt, or long pants)

~Homecoming T-Shirt orders are also coming home this week in the communication folder. They are due back no later than FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd! (No extras will be ordered)

~Please remember that PTO Discount Card Fundraiser money is due by September 3rd. You may turn this into the homeroom teacher. Each family is asked to sell 10 cards. LAST DAY IS THIS FRIDAY!

Accelerated Reader Home Connect

Today is the first day of Accelerated Reader!!!!

Please check out the AR Home Connect Website under the "Useful Websites" on the left. To get in, enter your child's AR user name and password. The students should know these but if not, please email me and I can get it for you. Go to "Email Setup" at the top right of the page. Enter your email(s). Each time your child takes a test, it will send the results to your email account. You can also see books your child has read, tests they have taken, and how they are progressing towards their goal. Also be sure that your child reads 15 to 20 minutes each night. Thank you in advance for your support at home!

Taylor Swift Essay Contest

We are soo excited about the Taylor Swift Literacy Event that will take place on October 27th via webcast! Along with this really cool event, Taylor and Scholastic Books are hosting an essay contest. If your child is interested in the Taylor Swift Essay contest, please let me know! I will send home more information for those that are interested! Deadline for the essay contest is September 20th. I would like to read essays and submit them for students, so please send them to school before you submit! You may also check out the website:

Welcome back!

Welcome back to school! We are going to have a great year! Just a few things to remember:

1) If you should need to drop anything off to your child, please do so with Mrs. Trecy in the front office. She will call your child to go down and get it (or relay the message to the teacher). Parents should not visit the classroom during the school day without a visitor's badge from the front office.

2) All paperwork sent home on Friday should be signed and returned no later than Friday, August 13th.

3) Communication folders will go home on Mondays.

4) Homework is not posted on the blog but may be found in your child's planner/notebook. Tests and quizzes are listed on the blog each week.
